At Notre Dame, one accent is on Titan Pride and Involvement. While the Academic program emphasizes a broad experience of the fundamental disciplines, co-curricular offerings encourage and develop the individual talents and interests of students. A great variety of activities and organizations provide the opportunity for the student body to participate. In their involvement, students find a challenge and the pleasure of working together, showing great school spirit. Every year the faculty and many parents are engaged in student activities, They extend beyond the class room walls into the playing fields and neighborhoods of the city. Social and cultural, artistic and competitive aspects of the human personality all find expression and direction, so that the Notre Dame Students leave High School as a well rounded individual. Co-curricular activities cover a wide spectrum. Various language clubs enrich classroom instruction. Each year, the students and faculty put on a Christmas program, which emphasizes on friendship, closeness, and service. Our Senior students at Notre Dame are involved in Service Projects each quarter throughout the community. The Spanish Club, Pep Club, Drama Club, Quiz Bowl Teams, and Mock Trial Team provide further opportunities for involvement. The Robert Holzemer Chapter of the National Honor Society is made up of students selected for Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. The Student Council is made up of elected representatives of the student body who serve as liaison between faculty and students, and sponsor charitable, and activities for the school. The Notre Dame Tradition of excellence extends to its athletic field and courts. Notre Dame is a member of SOC II, which is a highly competitive conference. Maximum participation is the basic priority, and thus the school field's ten interscholastic sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross-Country, Football, Golf, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Volleyball. There is a high involvement in Elementary, Jr. High and High School sports. At Notre Dame, our programs round out a broad variety of opportunities for practically every kind of athletic interest and talent. Through these teams and the regular physical education classes, every student has the chance to become more fit while enjoying the benefits of competitive athletics. Academic eligibility standards require student-athletes at Notre Dame to realize they are a student first. The discipline, dedication, and pride learned in sports will carry over into his or her academic performance, and ultimately into the future. Over the years, the Titans have been proud, not only of their records, and SOC Division Title wins, but also for the high standards and principals that come to life in our teams. Much of the spirit of a Catholic School derives from the enthusiasm and the support of its teams' fans. Active Booster Club and Athletic Association for each sport brings many parents to participate in their son and/or daughters' school life, and thus into the mainstream of Titan Pride. |
