FRIDAY NEWSNOTES NOVEMBER 20, 2009
1. SCHWAN SALE: Friday, December 4th 8:00-5:30. Just in time for the holidays! Remember, the more we sell, the higher our profit for ND Parent Association. Stock your freezers and plan to make this a huge success for our school. Schwan?s truck will be located on the NDE parking lot all day! A catalogue will be sent home next week.
2. The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders attended the Veterans? Day program held at Tracy Park on Wednesday, November 11th. Judge Howard Harcha III introduced Governor Ted Strickland, who spoke to the veterans, civilians, and our students, who were the only children in a crowd of about 200. The students shook hands with many veterans who had tears in their eyes, as they thanked us for ?remembering? them. After the program, students played on the newly constructed playground. THANK YOU KIWNAIS?CLUB!
3. We will have DRESS DOWN for eligible students on Tuesday, November 24th.
4. THANKSGIVING VACATION There will be no school on Wednesday (25),
Thursday (26) or Friday (27). Have a great Thanksgiving vacation.
5. There will be no SCRIP order on Monday, November 23RD . Your next order should
be sent on Monday, November 30th.
6. Thank you to Shawnee State Park Naturalist, Jenny Richards, for visiting the 4th graders on Thursday, November 19. The students have been studying different animal classifications in science, and learning about snakes in their reading selection and their Informational Nonfiction paperbacks this week. A visit from the ?snake lady? is always enjoyed by everyone___even Mrs. Tanner!
7. Our Quiz Bowl team competed in the County Competition on Wednesday. They
played two matches. We played against and beat Northwest and then tied
Minford in the second round but lost to them in the lightning round. We are very proud of our team and their leader, Mrs. Layne. Thank you Lauren Edwards, Hagen Schaefer, Truman Hash, Drew Smith, Gabriel Milani, MacKenzie Brown, Aaron Bazler and Trevon Turner. You did a great job!
8. Thank you for supporting the food drive ?WE CARE ABOUT HUNGER?. The parishes and ND schools were able to give the 15 food pantries in Scioto County $251. each as well as 25 boxes of 25 cans each.
